Practices
If you want to do Group Practices, join us on
Mondays & Wednesdays 6-7 PM at Emory SAAC Outdoor Pool.
August 31 - October 14
Emory SAAC: 1946 Starvine Way, Decatur, GA 30033 Free parking in deck. Walk across street and into SAAC building. Check in at front desk & walk outside and downstairs to pool. **Make sure we have your name on the team roster so you can get access to the pool.**
Coaches: All practices have a coach on deck to write sets, explain drills, provide feedback on stroke technique. Our Fall season coach is Allie Banks! Originally from Suwanee, GA, Allie graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2022. She currently works full-time in Ticket Operations at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. With 10 years of year-round swimming experience with Swim Atlanta and high school swimming, Allie has also spent the past 10 years coaching summer league and high school swimming, where she currently is the head coach at Denmark High School. Allie’s favorite events of all time are anything breaststroke, butterfly, and the 200 IM.
If you would like to join group practices, there is a Team fee of $75. There will be 14 practices over 7 weeks (about $5 per practice). If you will make fewer than 5 of the 14 practices, you can pay a $15 drop-in fee instead.
Want to just do meets? No problem, we'd love to have you--you only have to pay the $65 League fee only via the green Registration button on the Decatur GUS Home page. If you want to do the Dolphin practices on your own, you can find the written practices on the Media page.
You can pay the Team Practice Fee ($75) using these methods:
Zelle @ 508-380-6182 -- Decatur Grown Up Swim Team (preferred due to no fees)
Venmo @DecaturGUSwim (-7281)
Paypal @Decatur Grown-Up Swim Team
Check payable to Decatur Grown-Up Swim Team
Not sure yet? Come try it out, and if you love it, join for more. (If you want to try it out before committing, just email Team Captains Kris Saarlas [email protected] or Michelle Reid [email protected] ahead of time so you don’t have any difficulty getting access to the pool when you arrive.) After initial trial practice, you must also pay the League fee in order to do group practices. It provides the required insurance we need for the pool, and also covers all the meets.
